Germantown church marked MLK Day with mission for feminine college students

Frigid temperatures Monday weren’t sufficient to maintain volunteers for the Martin Luther King Day of Service from their plans for the day. 

The Unitarian Society of Germantown kicked off a brand new mission for its twenty eighth MLK Day of Service, assembling “interval packs” crammed with female hygiene merchandise for college kids in fifth by way of twelfth grade. Every package had a small, black pencil case containing two sanitary pads, two tampons, two panty liners, and two female wipes.

Inside two hours, volunteers made 880 interval packs for 4 Philly colleges: Anna Lingelbach Elementary, CW Henry Faculty in Mt. Ethereal, Grover Washington Center Faculty, and the Philadelphia Excessive Faculty for Women. Every faculty additionally obtained calendars commemorating outstanding leaders in Black historical past.
