Highlights from Philadelphia’s 2025 Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

On March 16, the rhythmic beats of marching bands and the stirring sound of bagpipes reverberated amidst  a sea of inexperienced stretching from sixteenth and JFK to Eakins Oval. Although many spectators and even some contributors celebrated the event decked out in Eagles gear, the event was  in recognition not of the Birds, however of the Irish neighborhood. 

The grand custom of Philadelphia’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade unites Philadelphians in a celebration of Irish heritage and neighborhood spirit.

With a historical past spanning over 250 years, this parade is the second-oldest within the nation, embodying the resilience of Philadelphia’s Irish-American neighborhood that helped form the nation and the town itself.

From dazzling performances to floats proudly representing Irish organizations, the parade showcases the enduring legacy of Eire in Philadelphia.
